Category Fields

Control Panel Location: Developer Tools ‣ Channel Manager ‣ Category Groups ‣ Category Fields

This section of the Control Panel is for the management of category custom fields. It is where category fields are created, deleted, and preferences are set.

The main Category Field Management screen shows a table of all the existing category fields for the currently chosen category group. It lists the category field name and provides links to edit the preferences.

Permission Restrictions

  • Access settings: Design & Content
  • Channel categories: Create Categories
  • Channel categories: Edit Categories
  • Channel categories: Delete Categories



This will take you to Channel Settings.

Create New

This will take you to the create form.


The reorder icon in the left-most column of the table allows you to reorder the fields by dragging and dropping the rows.


The icons in the manage column perform actions on the category field in its row.


This will take you to the category field’s edit form.

Bulk Actions

The checkbox in the right-most column of the table selects a button for a bulk action. When at least one checkbox is checked the bulk action dropdown menu and submit button will be made available in the lower righthand corner of the table.


The selected category fields will be removed. Removing a category field will cause a confirmation modal to appear that will summarize the action.
